10-12 ASD food routine

So we hear this a lot from "healthier mum and dad" that they have no sugar food, drinks and keep it away from kids and home...

But you must be thinking but i have a ASD kids that will only drink 2-1 things, or will only eat 5 different food...
"How can i cut sugar out of my kids life when i cant get them to try something new?"

But i hear to say we can do it together. So michael was big on NEVER trying something new so we start a routine yes it a step routine.....

so the rule is you need to show the kids something new 10-12 time before they will think about trying it.....

So i try this and it work for me we add carrot to our life and love its

so hear a few tips that you could try:

1: routine making the new food a routine. like add one cut carrot to the plate,
2. take it slow dont stress if the kid doesnt eat it for the first 5 time he/she see the new food we all know ASD kids take work.
3. get the kid to help with add the new food be cut, cooking, asking them how they want it (shape)
4. don't give up, don't change the routine. Please
5. don't over load the kids you may only beable to start with one pieces on the plate and move up until the kids have try it and happy to eat it..
6. reward, reward kid never want to do something unless they get something they want out of it, like ice-cream after their dinner "only if they eat the new food"
7. Visual if your kid need them use them take a picture of the new food or the dinner plate with the food on it..
8. social story are beautiful and if you make one or find one taking about trying new food.
9. library books sometime the power of finding a book about trying new food and reading it at bed time can help.
10. just relax if you can get new food into the kid not the end of the world you will get their super mum and dad, and if need add muti vi-minion lollies to kick start their day

And you will find start small and creating little change you have a positive kid that look forward to trying new things and cut suger is the key but i talk about that in a new blog post.
