If you a little bit worry about sending your ASD kids to school/ preschool for the first time and not sure how other kids are going to think or say about your kids... It is confusing for other who don't know what autism is? and don't know how to explain it... Well this is a safety way you can share and explain it to the family of kids that are in the same class with your asd kids..... Well you can't walk up to every mum and dad and say hey my kids as Autism that just to upfront...
So hear my safe way of share your kids to them
make your self a little profile that you can ask you kids teacher to make copy of and place in every kids bag.. make a card or a A4 document.
Michael is currently enrolled at Bermagui Preschool and Bermagui little lambs and will be start Bermagui Primary School in 2016. Michael has a little brother who is 3 years name Luke who also goes to little lambs and Bermagui preschool.
Michael was diagnosed with Autism In May 2014 he was 4 years old. This was a very new beginning and change to our family. Michael is Class as high functioning level 2 ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder which mean Michael need substantial support.
What this mean is Michael need a lot more support from Family, friend and teacher and specialist therapists every day to help Michael learn and understand the world.
What is ASD? ASD is a disability that affect the way Michael view the world, it is a life long disability. Michael has a lot of sensory processing issue as well as behavior issue that make him had a lot of trouble in stressful environments and social situation.
I feel that it is important that you know about Michael so you can better support you kids if they ask question about Michael because they do not understand everything he does.
Michael is a very caring and lovely boy who love to be over the top loud and hyper activity which can be very over whelm for other kids. Michael Need to be visual help with everyday activity and love control, structure and routine to understand everyday task.
Michael is a strong communicator and imagination mind which repetitive play and interest, In Michael world everything has structure and the need for the right information. So he is a very clever and smart kid. So he will sometimes not understand jokes or double meaning, and Take very you say very literally.
When Michael feeling over whelm he may start flapping his hands, drop to the ground, scream and running away and hide which maybe confusing to other children.
But Michael is a wonderful, loving kids once you get to know him, Michael would love to build new friends with kids that are happy to embrace him for who he is as a person.
This is who Michael is as a person and what making him a beautiful lovely soul so please support us. Autism is not a choices for any family that has it in the family
but to understand and acceptance it is a Choices.
